Our history dates back to 1933 when Mr Freek Stoop started his horticultural business in Holland. In the 1950s, the company expanded its operations to include trading various types of flower bulbs, with a particular focus on gladiolus. This specialization became the hallmark of the company over the years.
In 1968, Freek Stoop and his son Gerard established a new firm called F. Stoop, dedicated to further developing their expertise in gladiolus. Three decades later, all shares were acquired by three Dutch associations of producers - Glaco, Everglad, and Horizon. These grower associations possess extensive knowledge of gladiolus and are credited with developing successful varieties such as Amsterdam, Cartago, Grand Prix, Chinon, Esta Bonita, as well as the Glamini’s, and the GlamourGlads.
Since 2002, Mr Kees van der Plas has been managing our firm, which markets its products globally under the brand Stoop Flowerbulbs Holland. The company focuses on Business to Business (B2B) sales of Dutch flower bulbs, exporting 95% of our gladiolus bulb production to professional flower growers worldwide. With a market share of 50%, we are the leading exporter of gladiolus bulbs internationally.
In October 2022 Mr Gert Sijm became the new director of Stoop Flowerbulbs B.V. Gert is also the CEO of VWS Import-Export of Flowerbulbs B.V. This means that our sales are now conducted by VWS
